French author Alain Joannes writes:
“Among the possibilities offered by digital technologies, texture is as effective as it is underused. The optical nerves at the base of our retina are extensions of the brain (…) which associates visual sensations with tactiles ones”
This made me think of a design by my friend and former colleague Ben Purkiss. On a plain background, it wouldn’t have much of an impact. With the military/camping gear fabric, it recalls ruggedness, simplicity, authenticity and strength. The texture really brings it to life.
