Visual India

I just returned from a trip to India, a country with an interesting visual language:

Many signs are still hand painted.

In some cases, old signs age rather well.

Local police building. The hand symbol reappears often.

Political Poster for the ruling Congress Party.

Many taxis have elaborate graphics. Here is the Hindu god Ganesh.

Another hand painted commercial sign.

With so many regional dialect, English remains the common language. However, there is a rather casual approach to spelling.

Just like in North America, India truckers put a lot of thought into their vehicle’s appearance.

In India, the Swastika is a sign of good luck.
